In one of the most emotionally charged GRAMMY Award Nights of recent times, Brit music swept up six of the most prestigious prizes thanks to Adele, her song ‘Rolling in the Deep’, album 21 and her music producer, Paul Epworth.

Recently recovered from throat surgery, Adele carried away Album Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal, Best Record, Best Song and Best Short Video, tying her with Beyoncé for the most awards in one night by a female artist.

Top GRAMMY Night award for Chris Tomlin

In the Christian music awards Chris Tomlin’s album ‘And If Our God Is For Us’ took the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Hit song ‘I Lift My Hands’ from the same album - created with Louie Giglio and Matt Maher, received a well deserved nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song.

Acknoweldging Chris Tomlin’s undoubted talent and presence when appearing live, the album ‘And If Our God Is For Us’ featured strongly in the Christian Music Award categories with ‘I Lift My Hands’ again nominated, this time for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance.

Best Gospel Album went to Kirk Franklin for the album ‘Hello Fear’ in a Christian music listing that included strong offerings from Mary Mary (‘Something Big’) and Kim Burrell (‘The Love Album’).

GRAMMY success for Laura Story and 'Blessings'

Other GRAMMY highs for faith based music included Best Contemporary Christian Music Song for ‘Blessings’ by Dove award winner Laura Story. Awarded the top prize for her self-written song from the album of the same name, Laura Story took the top award in a category featuring Christian music’s top writers including Chris Tomlin, for whom she wrote Chris’s 2004 hit ‘Indescribable’.

Other nominations for the Best Contemporary Music Album GRAMMY, deservedly taken by Chris Tomlin’s ‘And If Our God Is For Us’ included US Band Leeland’s ‘The Great Awakening’, and Brandon Heath’s ‘Leaving Eden’.

Music inspired by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee’s NIV Bible retelling ‘The Story’ found nomination success in the Best Gospel/Contemporary Music Performance class with Natalie Grant’s performance of Story track ‘Alive’.
